Wind Energy Turbines Kill More Birds and Bats

The two terms, wind energy, and wind power are synonyms for each other. Wind energy production causes damages to lives like birds and bats. Here we are going to discuss Wind Energy; Pros and Cons for you.  Wind energy production provides damages to living organisms like birds and bats. Only in the USA, a single farm has a mortality rate of 140,000 to 328,000per annum.

Advantages

There are a number of advantages of wind energy. First, it comes with a very low price. Secondly, its price increase over a long period, means it has somewhat a fixed price. Third, the wind is free from nature, so it is fuel free. Wind energy is one of the greatest job-providing sectors. According to a report by Wind Vision, only the US has a hundred thousand workers in the wind sector. Fifth, wind energy is environment friendly, safeguards nature. Sixth, wind energy production is a great deal of renewable energy. We can say that wind power production is the domestic source of energy-consuming fewer resources.

Disadvantages and challenges

Despite several advantages, wind power production also presents some of the negative effects. For example, Birds and bats are one of the greatest victims. When wind power fans run, they spin with great power and speed. It kills numerous birds and bats with its fans. So the wildlife faces a risk from these turbines. There is a need for strong power transmission lines because most of these are located in remote areas, away from the cities. Turbines of wind power stations cause the greatest amount of noise. On one hand, it disturbs the natural environment but on the other hand, it can be heard faraway from stations.   

Historical aspects

Historically saying, the first windmills were invented in the 9th century. And this credit goes to Pakistan and Afghanistan. They are known as the pioneers of wind power production.

Future possibilities

The future of wind energy production is brilliant. For example, only Pakistan has a capacity of 43,000MWs of wind energy. Solving some challenges may put it easier. First, we need to enhance the storage capacity. Second, there is a need to produce and offer more jobs. Third, a secure and sound source of energy must it be. There is a need to reduce windmill-birds-bats collision for the safe life of wildlife. Fourth, wind energy can enhance water conservation.

Worldwide capacity

Worldwide, there is the highest capacity of wind power stations. As of 2019, China had 236,402MW, United States of America 105,466MW, Germany 61,406MW, India 37,506MW, Spain 25,224MW, United Kingdom 23,440MW are on the top six of the world. This capacity set a record in 2014 when a total of 50GW energy stations were installed.

Pakistan’s capacity for wind power production as of 2018 was only 1237MW. It makes 6% of the total power production.
